Japan Airlines business class review
JAL's A350-1000 cabins are among the world's newest and quietest: business suites with tall doors and headphone-free audio, a first class with the widest bed flying, and service that matches ANA's omotenashi standard glass for glass.

The verdict
Inside A350 Business Suite
The A350-1000 business suite is a genuine rival to ANA's The Room: full-height doors, a bed long enough for tall sleepers, and JAL's signature air-weave mattress pads. Dining alternates refined washoku with western menus and one of the sky's best sake lists.
JAL's quiet advantage is consistency: the crews, the timing, the bedding are identical trip after trip. As a oneworld member it also combines with American and British Airways on single negotiated tickets, which opens fare constructions ANA cannot match.
- A350-1000 suites with full-height doors
- Widest first class bed in the sky on the A350
- Air-weave bedding and kaiseki-grade dining
- oneworld combinability with AA and BA

What people who fly Japan Airlines actually say
From a frequent work flyer on the JFK to Haneda corridor:
“JAL is better on food and lounge by miles. Hard product and service are a push.”
“If you want to feel ultraluxe, save up your dollars or points for JAL a350 First Class :)”
The honest caveat about the older fleet, which is why the A350-1000 is the aircraft to target:
“JAL's 777 and 787 Sky Suite seats are a major step back.”

Is JAL or ANA better in business class?
Both sit in the world top tier. ANA's The Room offers more width; JAL's A350-1000 suite counters with taller doors, quieter cabins and superior bedding. We quote whichever has the stronger negotiated fare and the newer aircraft on your dates.
